Artificial Intelligence websites that design themselves. It'll be awesome.
It's not long till it's realised, The Grid, a San Francisco & Berlin based start-up launches its Beta version in June 2015. It is something all 41,605 founding members are looking forward to. The Grid is a website creation and hosting platform that utilises an advanced algorithm to continuously run automated A/B testing on your content. Given your website a focus i.e. more social media shares, sales, followers etc, add content (videos, text and photos) and The Grid will take charge and deliver you a unique website within minutes.
It has received a plethora of commentary both negative, positive and inquisitive. They planned to launch on a $70,000 crowdfunding campaign (to date they have brought in $3,994,080 from founding members). Critics don't believe the product will enable millions of unique combinations of websites without appearing to be 'designed by The Grid'. Others don't see a machine to be able to learn the craft of a humans intelligence applied to design.
Hello WorldThis is not another do-it-yourself website builder. The Grid harnesses the power of artificial intelligence to take everything you throw at it - videos, images, text, urls and more - and automatically shape them into a custom website unique to you. As your needs grow, it evolves with you, effortlessly adapting to your needs. Want to add e-commerce? Social feeds? A different layout? The Grid just takes care of it. This is not a website builder. This is your personal AI web developer. Its first masterpiece is the website you're looking at right now. Its next one could be yours. - The Grid Website
Its supporters are keenly awaiting the chance to witness the potential The Grid promises. The ability to run constant optimisation of a website is a digital marketers dream. How can it get better? Combine AI optimisation with personalisation offered by leading CMS providers such as Sitecore. This is ultimately further down the track but is a powerful combination that will disrupt the core of digital marketing. Websites, but more of that point of view to come in a later article.
We have heard of three jobs in the future. One machines do, one where humans add value to machines, (or vice versa?) and, one only humans can do. Can AI replace a designer? Which job category will web design fit into in the future?
